State Services and Benefits

The state services and benefits for person with disabilities are not confined within the authority of a unique ministry /department but are offered through many departments of the same or different ministries

These benefits are provided to each individual who has a disability,  as long as the individual does not own property (or savings). If the person is employed then the benefits are decreased and/or terminated. 
Today basic social benefits amount to €480 and for special needs €226.

Additional benefits may be added to these for other needs for which the beneficiary submits a receipt. These include the following:

Travel expenses - allowance for care  - home equipment (furniture, appliances) other special needs & equipment etc

Special Education

According to the law on Special Education (N.113/90), children with intellectual and other disabilities attend public schools in which they are placed with appropriate support after a suitable evaluation has taken place.
