For the purpose of raising public awareness regarding the rights of persons with intellectual disability and their equal standing as citizens within our society the Committee for the Protection of Persons with Intellectual Disability issues from time to time educational material. Over the years the following material has been issued.

i. Information booklet about understanding intellectual disability which was distributed to all schools in Cyprus, 1998
ii. Children’s story titled ‘Mia istoria me kakarismata’ (a story about a disable duels) by Maria Marmara, a parent of a child with intellectual disability, 1999. The story was distributed to all primary schools
iii. A book titled ‘Oloi diaforetikoi, oloi isoi’ (All are different, all are equal), 2001. The book was published as part of writing competition held by the Committee. The award winning stories, in order, included in this book are the following:

‘O dikos mas Stefanos’ (Our own Stefanos)  by Chrysoula Lambrianou-Papaioannou
‘H Eytyhia ehei hroma galano’ (Happiness has blue colour)   by Elena Perikleous
‘Mia hordi sto kyma’ (A broken guitar) by Panayiotis Savva
‘Otan pesane oi fraktes’ (When all barriers were removed) by Agni Charalambous

The ‘Oloi diaforetikoi, oloi isoi’ books were distributed to all the school libraries.

For informing employers, paediatricians and other professionals the Committee has, over the years, published booklets and leaflets:

Information booklet on supported employment, 1996, reissued in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2004. In 1998, the booklet was also issued in the English language.

Information brochure (in Greek and English) on the Early Intervention service that began operating under the Committee. The brochure was distributed to all pediatricians across the island as well as to other professionals in 2003. Additionally, the brochure was distributed via the Electricity Authority of Cyprus to all homes in 2004. From 2006 the brochure was publish in a new edition and distributed in the same way during the years. In addition a new edition is in circulation since 2019. .
