Registry for People with an Intellectual Disability

In accordance with article 9 of the 117/89 & 11(I) 2018  person with intellectual disabilities maintains a registry listing person with intellectual disabilities. The registry was created to aid the government and other organizations in planning and implementing relevant programmes and services for persons with intellectual disabilities. The registry includes demographic data and a record of the needs of persons with intellectual disabilities and by extension the needs that arise within the family. In line with the 2001 Law for the Protection of Personal Data, the information contained in the registry is considered confidential.

Upon inclusion of an individual in the registry, the Committee for the Protection of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, issues a certificate. By presenting this certificate, the individual listed on it can claim all benefits and services provided to persons with intellectual disabilities during any time period and under any law.

To be included in the Committee’s registry the individual, his or her parents, or if the parents are not available a relative/legal guardian, must submit an application. Applications can be found at the Registries application link (in Greek).
